Caswell’s Strings has a good online ordering system for buying a well set up starter violin outfit.

It is possible to buy Primavera, Stentor and many other makes of violins in all sizes. There is an option to upgrade the strings – I recommend upgrading the strings to D’Addario Prelude or Dominant (depending on the violin) as this will make a great difference to the sound of the instrument.

Caswell’s Strings are also able to repair violins and rehair bows.

They have a selection of violins and bows to try out and set up new violins so that they are in the best possible playing condition.

Moseley Violins sell a range of antique, pre-owned, handmade and new violins. They also have a variety of bows, cases, strings and accessories. The website is their shop window rather than an e- commerce site. Players are welcome to visit and try out the stock.

If you would like to buy a starter violin outfit they can customise it for you to reduce the cost e.g. if you already have a bow they will remove this from the package and reduce the price. They set up the violins well with D’Addario Prelude violin strings.
